This was our bus stop en route today:
Kompong Cham is known as Cambodia's "fruit bowl" due to the amount and variety of fruit grown in the area. Kompong Cham is also surrounded by rubber plantations and it is home to the first bridge in Cambodia to span the width of the Mekong River.
We had lunch today with a local family in their home. The husband was the person in the family who spoke English (the kids are learning), and his wife did all the cooking for us. It was a delicious meal.
And then after lunch we went on our bike ride all around the town. Our first stop was at a temple to see some of the statues on the grounds.
After that we rode around the town for a couple of hours.
Some "delicious" eats along the way???
And then back to our riding again once our tummies were full.
And of course there are adorable children here in Kompong Cham too. Not that tourists are overly well known anywhere in Cambodia yet, but here is definitely off the beaten track a little bit, so the kids ran along beside us everywhere we went, screaming "hello, hello" which is the only thing they know in English.
We're only here for this one night - tomorrow we're off to Kampot.
