Pandemic response - Week 54

This is going to be another transition week for me as I’m heading back to Toronto at the end of it.  I’ve been away for quite a while now and there are few things I need to do there, not the least of which is my taxes and of course that’s where all the paperwork is for them.  I’m hopeful that our spring weather really sets in soon so that backyard visits with friends will be able to happen.  And I’ll look forward to exploring a few new trails when I’m there too.  In the meantime...here’s the end of Bayfield for a while.

Crocuses coming up in lots of places

Walking along the beach, trying not to get my feet wet on one side and still a little snow bank on the other

Here she comes...

Less and less ice and snow each day

And the big pile of snow and ice at the end of the pier is almost gone!

A new visitor in the harbour today - the “G&F” at the end.  She’s a little one.

Two different shades of purple crocuses - doesn’t get any better!

It’s early still but they should be able to survive a frost or two that is sure to still come...but spring is on the way!

In this very protected area (lots of sun and sheltered from the wind) the daffodils are coming...and then the very next day...here they are!

Never seen this colour before.

Hard to see for sure, but I think these little birds are squatting in the purple martin house.

Here comes the fishing boat

I think the village stone painters are back.

I don’t know what this is, but hopefully its owner finds it soon!

Looking down the bank - the ice and snow is nearly gone.

Here comes the baby of the group - and it’s a full house in the marina!

Ice is all gone from the Main Beach now...but you can still find some walking along the beach.

I think this mitten wintered on the beach, under the snow and ice!

A LOT of rain overnight and although much cooler, temperatures still above freezing and the lake, shoreline and pier are now ice free everywhere.  And although I know there won’t be a sunset tonight, a strong northwest wind meant that the lake was wild...probably the way I like it the most!

And look who’s back! Just over two months ago (Jan. 22) was his last day before the shoreline froze.

Some little hyacinths just showing themselves

I love the way the rain drops ‘stick’ to the leaves

This is my last sunset for a while as sunsets aren’t as easily come by in Toronto.
