Pandemic response - Weeks 84 and 85 - Fall colours and Hallowe’en

Home now, and significantly further south geographically which means back to fall colours on the trees again.  It’s not been the absolute best year for fall colours in this part of the province - no one was complaining about the lingering warmer temperatures but warmer days and nights into September, and even October, do delay the leaves turning colour, as well the incredible amount of rain this fall has decreased some of the vibrancy of the colours.  Add to that the fact that it is the end of October and lots of leaves are on the ground now.  That said, they are still beautiful to look at.  So a mini-theme for this post is the end of the Autumn colours

First though, I have to start this post off with the ‘lost and found’ hat.

“Denizens” is the name of this current local art display, on a wall beside a walking trail I frequent quite often.

A beautiful old snag…and the one branch it’s managed to regrow now has vibrant red leaves.
And yes, my local Mount Pleasant Cemetery is the perfect place to find gorgeous trees.

Not leaves, but this tree is laden with pine cones!

On one of my walks I came across many little companions, spread all along the trail.

A little male downy woodpecker.

Time to head down to the lake - but boy was it ever a cold and windy day!  I wasn’t prepared, nor was I dressed properly!
The snow fences have been set up already.

Silly person - way too cold to be windsurfing!

The big happening this week was Hallowe’en on October 31st.  I don’t know if it’s because we weren’t allowed to celebrate at all last year or why, but so many houses seem to have gone all out with their decorations this year!  And what’s most important is that kids are allowed to go trick-or-treating this year!

My neighbourhood tree that’s been decorated for every season during the pandemic is helping to get those passing by into the spirit.

I have no idea why, but the worm from Beetlejuice is a very popular decoration this year.

Some folks go to great heights with their decorations!

Waiting for you as you walk along the sidewalk.

Some poor, little witch is missing their hat.

As I said, some absolutely amazing decorations this year, and I could have put in 10 times (or more) as many photos, but  this I think this neighbour and their sense of humour is my most favourite! (It’s the sign above the fence to look at.)
