A tasty snack on the way to Kampot

Today was basically a travel day - we were on a public bus from Kompong Cham to Phnom Penh, a lunch stop in Phnom Penh, and then we were in our own private mini-van the rest of the way to Kampot.

The big, exciting, thing today was actually the stop we made in the morning ... and this was the delicacy that was up for offering.

Yes folks I did actually have a try - a little piece of leg.  I wasn't quite game enough to try the body although one person in our group did ... the rest of us stuck with the legs.  It didn't taste like much really - a bit like bacon but mostly just like something unknown, fried and really crispy.
But at least now I can put tarantula on the list of things I've tried ... to eat.

Another look at Phnom Penh, but this time from up a little bit higher - a view from the restaurant where I had lunch.

And then back to the beautiful countryside and rice fields.

The place we're staying for the next two night is right on the Kampot river - this is where we had dinner;

just after we watched the sunset.
