Pandemic response - Week 8

In 1836 two lots of land within the fledgling village of Bayfield was donated for the construction of a school.  The first school was built of cedar logs and is known to many at “The Hut”.  It is Bayfield’s oldest building

Although this has been a very cool spring so far, with temperatures well below seasonal, I’m still starting to see signs of spring
Baby maple leaves getting a bit bigger

Last year’s sumac with new growth starting

Each day a bit closer but the magnolias still haven’t bloomed

Now if I was a camper, this is what I’d like to be in!  Isn’t it cute?

 Cormorants today

Many years ago the village bought strips of land that intersect through several blocks which guarantee green spaces throughout the village.  When you look at a map of the village these are actual streets!  You can see these little signs “Right of Way Path” at every ‘corner’ where these streets intersect more traditional streets.

Not set up for physical distancing yet...

Three churches in the village and the bells all ring at different times...when we’re not in the middle of a pandemic lockdown

Definitely not the weather for these yet, but I guess when you’re near a beach it makes sense this would be the ‘lost and found’ clothing

A bit of ‘illegal’ time on the beach today

On the north side of the harbour, looking south

And looking into the marina, down the Bayfield River

Still waiting for the boats...hopefully soon

It’s been a very cold spring so far and the leaves are slow to bloom,,,but slowly and surely they are coming

This is what snow-laden clouds in May look like...
Yes you read that right - SNOW!
It was so cold this morning I didn’t even want to go outside to take this photo

I wonder who is building what...

I can’t believe the squirrels haven’t found these yet.

Another of our beautiful ‘green streets’

 A birch tree mini-forest

That’s an icy blue...in May?!

Local children showing their support.

I couldn’t get it without the glare, but it says “Thank you to those working for us - friends and family”
