Pandemic response - Week 33

Week 33 is my last full week in Bayfield for a little while as I’m heading back to Toronto next week.  Hard to believe another month is past, and the end of October means Hallowe’en.

Although a little one, here comes another log onto the beach...

These snapdragons growing in my neighbour’s garden somehow haven’t yet been affected by our cold, wet weather this past week.

Are these concrete blocks being moved because it’s the end of beach season, or perhaps getting this area ready to be used in the movie shoot?  (There’s another blog post with all the information.)

I love the shape of this tree.

Hung up so that hopefully its owner will find it...

I took a little trip this afternoon to nearby Stratford, home of the Avon River.
Another heron

One of the last boats in the marina to be taken out of the water

It was good timing today to see the fishing boats coming in.  First the Noskca - J

And then the Mike - J

Here they are back home - and today’s catch is being unloaded

I know it’s the end of October, but this looks much more like the end of November or December - these steely blue and grey colours.

Here comes the tug to help with marina maintenance

A new fishing boat in the harbour today - never seen this one before.  Her name is “L & R”

No boats left any longer...won’t be long now until the docks are taken out.

Despite the unusually cold temperatures these flowers are still hanging in

As I said - it’s time to take the pilings and docks out now

Pilings gone...

If the birds are any indication, it was a good day for the Noskca-J!

It’s a game of ‘follow the leader’

Hallowe’en and trick-or-treating during a pandemic, all from a distance

Much warmer inside - watching the afterglow through the window

The last day of Week 33 ushers in a new month - it’s November now - and it started with what we here in Canada call an Alberta clipper; a fast-moving, low pressure weather system, precipitating a sudden temperature drop and sharp winds.  Wind speeds started at 30-40kms/hr and by this evening we were having sustained winds of 80kms/hr and gusts over 100kms.  There was a few moments of sunshine in the morning, and then rain and near snow took over for the rest of the day.  It was the first day in a long, long time that I didn’t venture outside.
