A day at work ??? Ok - not mine

As I near the end of my time in Old Bar I thought I'd show you how every one of my mornings has started here so far.  These gorgeous kookaburras have been on the fence, bidding me "good morning" every day.

And then at the end of the day today, this little guy was down near the beach.

As for today, I did spend it at school... but not mine, obviously.  My friend here is the principal of a little school about 40 kms away from Old Bar.  And when I say 'little', I mean LITTLE!!  There are 18 students at the school, ranging from Kindergarten to Year (Grade) 6.  And it's not surprising that when the school is that small the principal is also a teacher, and in this case she's really 'the' teacher - as well as having full principal responsibilities.  After spending the day with her and the students I take my hat off to her!!  She does an amazing job!!

So this is the 'community' where her school is located.  This is the main street,

the community hall,

and the church.

Add into this the school and you have the whole community.

Although not big, it is located in the Great Dividing Range mountains and the scenery really was beautiful!

I had put in an order for kangaroos when we got to school this morning and these little visitors were on the school yard to greet us this morning.

They didn't stay around for long once I got there - but at least long enough for a couple of photos.

Throughout the day there was a student who took me on a tour of the school, and for those of you who know the schools I've worked at in Toronto, it's hard to believe the differences between my work experiences and being here.  It's a totally different world.

Not the ocean, but still a pretty lovely view when you're doing yard duty!

Isn't this a beautiful outdoor classroom!

Gotta love this sign!  It's in the toilet at the school.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate so I can have one more trip to the beach here in Old Bar tomorrow morning and then I'm off, just a bit further north up the coast, to see more friends for the next few days.
