Back at the lake again - YEAH!!
Everything packed away for the winter now - no boats or docks any longer.
Some very committed folks out fishing.
I was lucky…these are the last two fishing boats still in our marina, and today was their last day.
Here’s goes the Mike J.
And goodbye to Exceleau. All the fishing boats are up in the harbour at Goderich for the winter now.
I absolutely love sunsets at this time of year. Whatever is, or isn’t, in the atmosphere allows the colours to linger and linger, often for an hour or more after sunset.
Sunrise the next morning was awfully lovely too!
Look what I found when I was cleaning out my gardens, getting them ready for winter.
I know I’ve shown this house before - locally known as ‘The Gingerbread House’ or “Hansel and Gretel House’ - well it appears to have an actual name now…Enchante
Guess what…it’s raining again!
And then the next day was the first snow of the season. It wasn’t a lot, and in some ways it wasn’t ‘real’ snow, more like a very heavy frost that just didn’t melt.
The municipality was quick to get signs out and ready in case they’re needed. We all know that snow squalls can blow in off the lake in an instant, reducing visibility to nothing. Now to wait and see how often they need to be used this year.
A new addition in Pioneer Park - the Malta rudder. The Malta was a 3 masted schooner built in 1853 and was used to transport salt between Goderich and Sarnia. During a wild storm in November 1882 it sunk off the shore of Bayfield.
Despite the weather these snapdragons are still blooming in my neighbour’s garden.
No idea why these ball/clump of snow is here.
As the temperatures rise and the snow starts to melt, it slides off the end of the sign it’s on.
Some very grey days this week - I’m hoping it will be warmer and the snow will melt but if not then fingers crossed for some sunshine so it at least looks ‘prettier’.
