Obviously three weeks since my last post…after 90 weeks and more in the same locations, and now into the second winter season, it’s a bit of a challenge to find new, and different things to photograph.
Weeks 90 and 91 were still in Bayfield, back to Toronto for week 92. I went for a walk nearly every day, but the walking was more as I was doing errands, so not any new destinations during this time.
What did happen during this time though was we now have a new word in our vocabulary - ‘Omicron’. A new variant of COVID-19 that is just wiping us out again. On the day this post is being published, case numbers in Ontario are the highest they’ve been since last April and restrictions have once again been imposed. Not quite a lockdown - stores and restaurants are open but with strict capacity limits, and indoor gathering limits have just been lowered to 10 people…a week before Christmas. And given the speed at which case numbers are rising no one would be surprised if further limits aren’t put in place soon.
Week 90 started with a nice sunrise, but little glimpses of the sun, like this, are all we had for most of these weeks. And it didn’t take long for this to become an all grey sky.
I didn’t expect to see an excavator down at Main Beach. Turns out it was doing some shoreline stability work a little bit south and had to go back and forth.
The local greenhouse has a poinsettia festival every year. Probably 20 different colours and varieties, and hundreds of plants. The Christmas lights and candles create a beautiful atmosphere.
Not the right season to be using this now but I love it - an outdoor change room!
Lots of amazingly windy days during these two weeks!!
Take the photo and move back - quickly!!
Another interesting beach find.
Oh look - it’s snowing! Not cold enough to stay on the ground but you get pretty wet out walking!
Split in half by the wind and waves likely.
A victim of yesterday’s strong waves…and not yet dinner for the seagulls.
“Christmas in Bayfield” means several ‘warming stations’ are set up along Main Street.
Although we’re well into December our Canada Geese friends haven’t left yet.
Given our very, very grey skies these weeks, this is a rare sunset.
One calm day…then back to the winds!!
This was an amazing snow squall coming in across the lake. By the time I walked from the beach up to the top of the bank the conditions changed drastically.
Despite the calendar, and the fact that they are so fragile in the spring, when we have a warmer few days in late fall it’s not unusual for magnolia trees to bud again.
Getting blown away…
Just cold enough today for icicles to form right at the water’s edge.
Sunrise on my last morning in Bayfield.
And then back to Toronto.
I think I need this picnic table!
The Ontario College of Art and Design is a very unique building.
Accumulation really wasn’t that much, but today was Toronto’s first snowfall.
I bet its owner wished they had it right now.
Someone lost their travel cup while walking.
These little buds can’t possibly hang on for much longer.
