I guess if my focus for the last post was autumn/fall colours, my ‘focus’ this week was to try and find any flowers that might still be remaining. Doesn’t mean I haven’t included some more photos of the fall colours - I certainly have and will continue to for as long as possible - but I was actually a bit surprised, when I really started to look, at how many very hardy flowers are still clinging to life in gardens. In many instances it was the only one still left - providing that little burst of colour.
Getting together at a local park post-Hallowe’en…waiting to be compost!
This headstone/marker is in Mt. Pleasant cemetery. I don’t know whose it is, but it catches my eye every time I walk by.
It’s predominantly our maple trees that produce the most vibrant coloured leaves in the fall, but some varieties of oak trees do too.
More and more leaves are on the ground now!
To end this week I took myself to a new part of town where my map showed an area comprised of open green space parks and walking trails all linked together so thought I’d give it a try. Not sure I would make a special trip back to this area but I really like all the different types of spaces I walked through, all in the course of a couple of hours. Wide open fields, parks with paved walking trails, and trails through forested areas…some trails much more worn that others!!
Part of the trail was along another section of Wilket Creek, north of sections I’ve walked before.
Can you tell which direction the water is flowing?
