First week of lockdown done and unfortunately no change in our numbers. Hopefully better news in another week but truthfully I’m not too optimistic. Another week back at work and all is good on that front...and thankfully (or luckily) no cases at the school...yet. Not much happening in my life during the week now - my focus is obviously on work - but this was a nice weather weekend so I managed walks in two different parts of town, one each on Saturday and Sunday.

Kensington Market is a distinctive multicultural neighbourhood in downtown Toronto, and in 2006 it was designated a National Historic Site of Canada. The (partly) outdoor market is probably one of the most photographed sites in the city. It’s a walkable, bohemian neighbourhood with indie shops, vintage boutiques and arts spaces, and is also home to a wide array of specialty grocers, bakeries and cheese shops.
Right next door to Kensington Market is Toronto’s downtown Chinatown, one of the largest in North America.
As is happening in many places in Ontario, there is a growing ‘anti-mask/anti-lockdown’ movement which holds ‘freedom’ rallies. I didn’t hang around...
Cherry Beach is another one of Toronto’s lakefront beaches, and despite it’s location at the tip of Toronto’s formerly heavily industrial Port Lands area, it is still a popular gathering place - or at least when it’s not the end of November during a lockdown. Today is was a bit quieter than it sometimes is. Still, some brave souls in the water windsurfing and kite sailing.

The Martin Goodman Trail is a 56 kms long, multi-use path along the waterfront here in Toronto. It traverses the entire lakeshore, from one side of the city to the other. I walked just a small portion of it today, from Cherry Beach over to the Leslie Street Spit.
The main trail with lots of little overshoots - the walking possibilities are numerous!
