Spacious Parque Central is the social epicentre of Habana Vieja. The park is presided over by stately royal palms shading a marble statue of Jose Marti. Adjacent, baseball fanatics gather at a point called "esquina caliente" (hot corner) to discuss and argue the intricacies of pelota (baseball).
Lining up to buy a churros in the street
During the day, but especially at night, music and dancing is everywhere
Having a coffee in Plaza Vieja when all of a sudden this 'parade' passes by
My trip ended in much the same way it began - with a sunrise take-off, this time in Havana,
And not far off sunrise for a landing in Toronto
A marvellous week - I'm so glad I went.
